CRITICAL ENABLING SKILLS TRAINING

PBS is a leading provider of the CREST (Critical Enabling Skills Training) National Training Programme, the ambitious initiative spearheaded by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to prepare Singapore's workforce for the knowledge economy.

We have the distinction of being the FIRST provider to have the entire seven CREST modules audited and endorsed for funding. Our team of trainers and associate trainers were trained and certified by US-Master Trainers flown in to conduct intensive 'Train-the-Trainer' modules for CREST.

Since the launch of CREST in November 1998, over 25,000 training places have been logged in by PBS.

CREST was the strategic response to the rapid pace of technological change that is taking place that will be constantly tranforming the nature of jobs in the future.

Unlike the past, higher and more diverse skills are now needed, and learning in the knowledge economy has to be continuous.

To stay ahead, your organisation constantly needs innovative strategies, products and processes. Its success hinges on your ability to rapidly learn and apply new knowledge and skills.

As a national training programme supported by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), CREST provides you with seven critical skills for continuous learning and innovation in the knowledge age.

1. LEARNING-TO-LEARN: independently learn and use new knowledge and skills to meet changing needs.

2. LITERACY: raise proficiency in reading, writing and computation to interpret, analyse and effectively use complex information.

3. LISTENING AND ORAL COMMUNICATION: learn from co-workers and customers, understand needs and develop focused business relationships.

4. PROBLEM-SOLVING AND CREATIVITY go beyond conventional approaches, see creative solutions and make the leap to innovation.>

5. PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS: take responsibility for self-development, personal performance and goals within the organisation.

6. GROUP EFFECTIVENESS: use the team's skills and talents to achieve common goals and build relationships.

7. ORGANISATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS AND LEADERSHIP: initiate and communicate change to achieve commitment to the organisation’s goals.

THREE-PRONG STRATEGY FOR EFFECTIVE TRAINING AND SKILLS TRANSFER

To enhance your ability to learn, think and apply new knowledge and skills, CREST courses employ THREE key strategies.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING activities that help you learn by doing and discovery. You are encouraged to seek out new knowledge and skills for better work performance.

REFLECTIVE TEACHING, which encourages you to analyse, synthesise and evaluate situations, issues and alternatives. This challenges you to think creatively, examine alternatives in the workplace and use this new knowledge and skills to innovate.

FUNCTIONAL CONTEXT that ensures course content is relevant to the workplace. You can immediately integrate what your learn and apply it.

CERTIFICATES -FOR PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION

On successfully completion of any one of the 7 CREST module, you will receive a End-of-Module Certificate issued by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and PBS.

When you complete all 7 modules, you will then receive a Certificate in Critical Enabling Skills, which marks you now as a highly-sought after Gold Collar Worker.
